About Our School:
The Columbus Japanese Language School began with 14 elementary school children and 3 teachers in April of 1980. It was founded by a group of Japanese parents in central Ohio who were seeking way to help their children to keep up with their Japanese language skills while their stay in the U.S.
Today, 550 students gather every Saturday in an atmosphere close to that of their home country. Along with the standard curriculum required of students in Japan, the Columbus Japanese Language School offers a supportive environment to nurture self-confidence and creativity, as well as encourage a self-controlled, cooperative attitude in each student.
We also provide them with an atmosphere conducive to their becoming successful members of Japanese society by establishing rules and guidelines typical of the Japanese educational system.
